Tap Truck North Texas - Branch of the Month October 2025

This October, we’re raising our glasses to Tap Truck North Texas, led by the dynamic duo Brian Piper and Jayne Detzel Murdock. Based in Royse City, Texas, this branch has been serving up vintage vibes and good times since March 2021 — combining their shared love for classic cars, community, and cold beverages.

Their Tap Truck journey started, as Brian puts it, “by chance.” The pair stumbled across a Tap Truck USA Facebook ad while searching for a side hustle. “Early in 2021 we were searching for a part-time ‘side hustle’ to make some extra money for the ‘nice-to-haves’ in life and stumbled upon a Tap Truck USA Facebook advertisement,” Jayne shared.

For Jayne, Tap Truck felt like destiny — “I grew up with a love for classic cars as my father was always wheeling and dealing vintage rides, and swap meets and car shows were always on the calendar.” Brian added with a laugh, “I have a love for vintage rides as well and enjoy a nice cold beverage from time to time. If you put the two together, you get a fun business in Tap Truck so it seemed nearly perfect!”

Their one and only beauty is a 1963 Chevy C10 Panel Truck powered by a 327 engine. “She’s quite LOUD and demands attention when she rolls up to an event,” Brian said proudly. The truck’s arrival at any venue always makes a statement — and it all started when a friend’s father happened to be selling her at just the right time. While they don’t have plans for a second truck just yet, they admit, “at times we could use one!”

Tap Truck North Texas began as a side gig but quickly became a passion project that connected them deeply with their community. “Every event provides an opportunity to learn something new,” they said. “We’ve evolved by delivering a level of service that encourages our customers to use us for multiple events, and have conquered a few ‘sell by the glass’ festivals!”

Even with full-time jobs and two young boys — their “Future Tap Tenders,” ages 9 and 15 — Brian and Jayne have built a reputation for reliability and fun. “In the beginning, we had a few hiccups with the beer system,” Brian laughed. “But over time with repetition and trial and error, I’ve figured out how to fix any potential issue or leak with my eyes closed!”

Serving as an amazing side hustle for the parents, they write feeling lucky to “have the luxury of accepting the events that fit our schedule & philosophy.  We continue to add to our growing list of corporate customers. In the beginning, we had a few hiccups with the beer system; over time with repetition and trial and error, Brian has figured out how to fix any potential issue/leak with his eyes closed!”

Their Tap Truck territory spans Dallas, McKinney, Frisco, Rockwall, Plano, and Royse City — but it’s their approach to customer service that really sets them apart. “We value our reputation and treat it as our greatest asset,” they said. Though they were once active in their local Chamber of Commerce, most of their success has come from good old-fashioned word of mouth.

They’ve poured at countless private events, but also enjoy unique opportunities like Boot Barn grand openings and corporate celebrations. “Since the early days, we’ve had the pleasure of serving a number of corporate customers, many of which still use us today,” they shared. “We get excited for every event, but it’s fun to accomplish new requests — bringing the truck indoors, serving something new, or our upcoming event celebrating the change of leadership at a National Guard Base.”

While they love showcasing local breweries, Brian and Jayne pride themselves on flexibility. “We have a close relationship with a small brewery in our hometown,” they explained, “but we follow the lead of the customer for beverage selection and are always happy to serve local favorites upon request!”

And when it comes to keeping things interesting, North Texas never disappoints. “Unique requests keep life interesting,” they said. “We’ve worn costumes to Halloween parties, nearly put our truck in a freight elevator, and even had corporate customers ask to wrap the truck for an event. You never know what’s next!”

For Brian and Jayne, being part of Tap Truck USA means more than running a business — it’s being part of something bigger. “The confidence that we always have a place for answers, and the opportunity to learn from the success of other territories and owners — that’s our favorite part,” they said.

When asked what advice they’d give future Tap Truck owners, their response was clear: “You get out what you put in! The customer is always right, even when they aren’t (minus a few exceptions). When you make a mistake, your reaction and solution are ultimately what the customer will remember. Most importantly, have fun!”

Outside of Tap Truck life, Brian works in sales and Jayne in project management, all while juggling the busy schedules of their two sons. When they hit the road for an event, though, it’s all about fun. “Early in our relationship, Brian introduced me to the best movie ever made — Smokey & the Bandit,” Jayne shared. “Now, it’s a tradition to have ‘East Bound & Down’ blaring as we depart for each event.”

Tap Truck North Texas perfectly embodies what makes the Tap Truck Family so special — passion, creativity, and a genuine love for community. From their loud and proud 1963 Chevy to their family-first approach, Brian and Jayne remind us that success isn’t just about pouring great drinks,  it’s about pouring heart into everything you do.
