For our July Event of the Month, we’re spotlighting a celebration that was truly one for the books. Tap Truck Monterey had the honor of pouring at the first-ever City of Marina 4th of July event held at the Marina Municipal Airport.
This inaugural event brought the community together for a day of festive fun, patriotic pride, and, of course, great local beer. The winds may have been wild, but spirits were high, and our team was all in for an unforgettable celebration under the stars.
Good Ole Betsy, Back in Action:
Their beloved ’56 Chevy Panel Truck, Good Ole Betsy, rolled into the airport grounds decked out and ready to serve. This vintage beauty never fails to draw a crowd, and this event was no exception. She was the perfect centerpiece for a community event that blended nostalgic charm with modern-day celebration.

Locals Supporting Locals: A Special Partnership:
What made this event extra special was their partnership with English Ales Brewery, a longtime local favorite in Marina, CA. They had the opportunity to pour two of their signature brews: Fat Lip Amber Ale and Big Sur Golden, and both were hits with the crowd. It was a full-circle moment for them, getting to work with Mark Francis, the brewery’s new owner, as he reintroduces English Ales to the community.
“There was something really meaningful about serving familiar, well-loved beers to locals who had missed them. People lit up when they saw English Ales on tap, and we loved being the ones to deliver that moment of excitement.”

Overcoming the Elements (and the Wristbands):
No great event comes without a few surprises. In true coastal California fashion, the winds picked up, and the evening got chilly fast once the sun went down. But Tap Truck Monterey’s team stayed warm thanks to the energy of the crowd and the steady flow of beer being poured.
One unexpected challenge? Managing the wristband system designed to limit attendees to three beers each. With a busy crowd and lots of movement, it was tough to keep track of everyone, and at one point, they even had to chase a few folks down to make sure the rules were being followed! It was a lighthearted reminder of how fast things can move when people are excited and the drinks are flowing. This small logistical hiccup is already on their radar for next year’s event, and they’re confident the process will be even smoother moving forward.

Celebrating Community, One Pour at a Time
At the heart of this event was something we value deeply at Tap Truck: community. Celebrating the Fourth of July with a group of people who truly appreciated great beer, good company, and the spirit of the holiday reminded Tap Truck Monterey’s team just how impactful these gatherings can be.
“For us, it wasn’t just about showing up and pouring drinks—it was about being part of a growing tradition in Marina. From the flawless setup and seamless keg tapping to the laughter and cheers echoing across the airport, everything about this event felt like a step forward for both our team and the community we love serving.”
The Bigger Picture: Growth, Momentum, and What’s Ahead
This event also marked a milestone in Tap Truck Monterey’s journey. Over the past two years, they’ve worked hard to rebuild their name and reputation, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see that effort pay off.
They’re getting calls for larger-scale events, including car shows and festivals at the Monterey County Fairgrounds, and we’re thrilled to be expanding our reach. Tap Truck Monterey’s team has grown stronger, their process more refined, and their passion for what they do is only getting bigger.
“Being invited to serve at the City of Marina’s inaugural 4th of July celebration felt like a reflection of how far we’ve come, and a glimpse at where we’re going.”
Cheers to more community events, local partnerships, and moments that bring people together. “At Tap Truck Monterey, we’re proud to serve more than just beer—we serve up memories that last.”
